Light Activated Switch Using LDR and Motor

Light Activated Switch Using LDR and Motor

The DC motor in this circuit serves as the output which is switched off or switched on by the presence or absence of light on the surface of the light dependent resistor (LDR).

Components Used

  •          LDR
  •          50K variable resistor
  •          C1815
  •         10k resistor
  •          12V DC motor

The LDR is configured to bias the NPN transistor (C1815) to switch on the DC motor when there is presence on light on it. Absence of light on the LDR will result to switching off the DC motor.
